School's Out For Summer!

Wow, where has the time gone--my little girl is finished with yet another school year. I can't believe she will be in 2nd grade next year! Wow. Overall, it has been an awesome school year and the skills she's mastered this year really amaze me. 1st grade was totally different for me--not nearly as demanding. It's quite impressive what kids are learning these days, and I can only imagine what second grade will bring for her.

I joined my peanut (remember, this girl was only 6lbs, 2oz when she was born) at lunch today. We were supposed to have a picnic outdoors, but there was a threat for severe weather so we ate in the lunchroom. It's always a hoot to spend time with her and her classmates at school (who all counted to 10 and said various phrases in Japanese before we went to lunch!). I also joined her outside for recess and we did some fun jump-roping. Let me forewarn any moms out there--be careful about jump-roping! It's not quite the sport it was before you had children. It was a great time and something I hope to do every year until she bans me from it!
