bikes, bikes and helmets...

Quick little update here...inspired by all things BIKE. Little B has been OBSESSED with his bike helmet and biking, which has actually been hilarious. This morning I took him to daycare...and he wore his bike helmet the whole way there. (They bike everyday in their large parking lot & little B loves it.) This past weekend he got up at 7am and promptly put on his bike helmet--to watch cartoons. I'm beginning to wonder if people will think he has head issues or something, since he wears the helmet SO much! He talks lots and lots about biking and asks for blessings on his bike when we say his prayers at night. Too funny.

And speaking of biking, this past weekend we went up north and I was able to catch the finish of the 2008 Chequemegon Fat Tire bike race (1750+ racers, 40 miles on the Birkebeiner trail from Hayward to Cable). I knew a couple of folks who did the race and it was awesome to be there and see what a huge feat this race is. Professional racers lead the pack, but my friends finished so well I was both amazed and inspired by their talent. It made me even consider doing the "short and fat" race (20 miles) next year...dare to dream? Just maybe!

Besides everything bikes last weekend, ribB enjoyed his bow hunting opener...yes, it's official...the hunting season is on. With all of the rain, I ended up bringing the kiddos & our nephew Dylan back to our house so we could have the luxuries of toys, tv, and quiet sleeping arrangements. I wasn't the most patient mom in the world, but I think we all managed some fun into the time at home (and I got some much needed cleaning done...still not all done, but progress was made). I also got a break out after ribB returned home, with a chance to drive, look at corn, be clumsy and check out a movie...quite a combo, huh?

Pics: little B, his helmet and morning cartoons; a couple of bike race photos including tandem racers...wow...
