Big Weekend for Kdee

Talk about a fun weekend. The Ribclan did all sorts of stuff, both at home and at the family cabin (which we spontaeously decided to go to). Despite all of the fun, Ms. Kdee had lots of firsts this weekend that demonstrated just how much she's growing up (and how quickly...sigh!).

Her first big accomplishment was taking a very long, very challenging bike ride with her dad to the bagel shop Saturday morning where we planned to have breakfast with our friends, Brian & Katie (& family). I can't quite give you the exact distance, etc., but this ride is mostly uphill (steep hills) and at least a few miles from our house. Kdee & ribB rode there and back, and in decent time, too! I was in shock. I never thought she could make it that far, but they were both in good spirits. It was amazing!

I was further amazed when Kdee waterskiied for the first time on Sunday! She almost didn't try but after a few encouraging words (or was it heckling?) from me, ribB, Uncle Bart, Ana...well, she said "fine, I'll try". With some help from her cousin Ana in the water and ribB driving the boat, she became comfortable. Well, when she popped up on her third attempt, the thrill on her face was evident! She said the gliding feeling was really cool. It was also fun to see the excitement on ribB's face--a big deal for him to see his daughter achieve something in a sport he loves. (He learned to ski when he was 7 or 8.) She was really pumped and asked to try again later in the day...but she was cold and the shivering got the best of her.

Other fun stuff from the weekend included Friday night's dinner & a movie (A Mighty Heart) with my good friend, Susan (a super time, indeed!), the fun breakfast mentioned above (highly recommend breakfast get togethers with friends that have kids) and the spontaneous trip to the cabin Saturday night (ahhh, so relaxing and a great place to enjoy the 90 degree weather).

We're looking forward to next weekend when we celebrate Kdee's upcoming birthday at the cabin with her friend. (Instead of a friend b-day party this year, Kdee opted to have 1 friend come with to the cabin for a weekend...this is a sweet deal for all of us!) I can't believe she's almost 7!
